Captain's Log: Star Date August 24, 2021
This past week was a fun week in South Jersey disc golf...
STAFFORD OPEN: The circus came to town as South Jersey Disc Golf (SJDG) hosted the Stafford Open at Stafford Woods. It was a Silver Series Event for the Disc Golf Pro Tour (DGPT) and the finest course in New Jersey was on display in all its glory! The Woodpeckers and other community volunteers stepped up to really make the course shine. A new layout with all new baskets made the Stafford Open play at a whole new level! Baskets were moved back on Holes 5, 8, and 17; and a new championship tee pad was revealed on Hole 6, making for a new test of nerves.
COSMIC CREW: Nine players from Cosmic Crew stepped out into the light of this prestigious event to compete. Some players experienced some bad luck with tee times that had them playing in the rain all morning. I saw players slip on the waterlogged grass on the 6th fairway. Not much you can do about that... Here's a look at how things turned out...
MPO: Chris Villa finished tied for 10th place!! After a slow-ish start, Brain Hart finished in the money, tied for 27th by shooting a career best 1029-rated round in the third and final round! Finlay Buchanan-Jacobs and Jason Tiligadas both finished tied for 36th place. Jason had one of those rainy tee times along with Alex Nicosia (57th)...but they both came back strong the next two rounds (Shout out to Frank Kates).
FPO: Becky Harris finished in 9th place and in the money in a division stocked with touring pros and local pros and other talented players, making for a strong field. Caris Fischer finished in 14th place in her first A-Tier event!! Caris shot well above her average for the tournament and finished ahead of higher rated players.
MP50: Glen Funkhouser struggled a bit with a shoulder injury, but he's still my hero!!
FP40: Dana Lit finished in 2nd place!!
Cosmic is very proud to have such great players as brand reps!

MEDIA: Gatekeeper Media did a great job covering the action, as did DGPT. If you watched some of the video coverage, you may have noticed some signs on every tee pad from a disc golf pro shop near Stafford. You know the place... Cosmic something.
This was the first high visibility sponsorship for Cosmic as the final round on Sunday was broadcast live on Disc Golf Network (DGN). This week Cosmic will become even more visible as there will be Cosmic signs on every tee pad at the Delaware Disc Golf Challenge. It is a National Tour event at Iron Hill Disc Golf Course in Newark, Delaware. All three rounds will be broadcast live on DGN and will also be covered by JoMez Pro!
Looking forward to sharing Cosmic with the rest of the disc golf world beyond South Jersey!!
Cheers!
