Well, our first sanctioned Cosmic tournament is in the books and it was a Cosmic sweep at the top with Cosmic Crew taking the top three spots! Each one of those three players shot under 100 total for two rounds. Just another day at the office for those guys.
Chris Villa shot a Villa-esque lights out 16-down** in the second round to win by a stroke, finishing at -28 for the two round day. **That -16 round was rated at 1032.
Jason Tiligadas took second place, also playing some masterful rounds to finish at -27. Both rounds were rated over 1000! Welcome to the Crew!!
Alex Nicosia finished third at 25 shots under par to round out the top three.
Brain Hart had a nice day, finishing sixth overall but some putts just would not go in. But guess what did go in?? Brain got a sweet skip Ace on Hole 3!!! It was his first ever ace in a sanctioned round and his 13th ace overall!! Congrats!!
Rick Steelman struggled a bit on the scorecard but looked great while doing it, looking fresh and sporty in his Cosmic team shirt!
Brandon Beck was steady at the helm in his first showing as Cosmic Premier Tournament Director. Erik Cistaro got the assist as the two seasoned vets just made it all look too easy. Shout outs to Rodney Francis and Michael Duva for helping out at the course. Special thanks to Dylan Sica for covering the store while I was running around, and for helping me vend at the end.
The only real hiccup was from me, forgetting to bring enough shirts for the field. I am happy to report that everyone who played in the tournament has either received a shirt or is going to pick it up at the store. Luckily we were only short by two shirts!!
I learned a lesson about preparation and checking boxes before leaving the store. I will be better next time!
We also handed out custom Cosmic stash event minis to commemorate the first ever sanctioned Cosmic tournament.
Thanks to everyone who came out and had fun on a mostly beautiful day for disc golf.
...and just like that, Cosmic tournaments have begun!!
